Business Ethics 101: Reviewing My Old College Essays and Research Papers Part One
Man, I was an arrogant sh*tlib lol
Well - I was looking at my Substack and I just realized that I created this page in 2022. I’m a master procrastinator plus my ADD is another reason why I haven’t done anything with this Substack page until now.
But I digress, I’m going to use this Substack to review my old college essays and research papers, as I said in the title.
The first essay was an essay for my Business 101 course that I took all the way back in 2011.
It was an ethical dilemma essay about what you would do if you were to witness a bank employee rob the bank of $10,000 dollars. The context is that you are working as a bank teller and one of your coworkers plans on taking $10,000 dollars for a surgery that her child desperately needs.
It was a two-page essay - page one is above.
“After thinking about all of the different possibilities and outcomes in this ethical dilemma I think what I would do if I was the teller is I would report the theft to my bosses.”
I, like a good little snitch that I was, would tell my bosses about the theft. My thinking, at the most, must’ve been that I wanted to kiss up to my bosses so I can get a promotion - or something like that. I was expecting to be some kind of big business man or something like that and my arrogance was leading to me turning into an uncaring asshole.
Luckily, my college career ended when I refused to take out loans to finish college and I thank God everyday for that decision of mine. Especially with the student loan crisis that millions of Americans are facing right now. I would’ve been one of those victims. Just another statistic, that would’ve owed hundreds of thousands of dollars with no way of paying it back.
To wrap up, as you can see in the picture on the bottom my professor wrote “good” so she was impressed with how much of a good solider I would’ve been for the banking machine. Getting that piece of paper when you graduate college (Degree) in today’s America isn’t all that its cracked up to be. You’ll end up in hundreds of thousands of dollars in debt and you’ll very likely not get that job you want and make the money you need to make in order to pay back those insanely expensive student loans anyways.

Thank you appreciate it. Also yeah there’s a major difference
Yes, college disabuses all of their innocence. Some realize it, others don’t. Be thankful you are of the “realize it” kind, because I am. I’m thankful you’re mature and reasoned enough to re-examine something like this, given the positions you hold contrasted against the argument presented in the paper. Very stark.
Oh, and also, congrats on your first stack ‼️✌️
